{"id":64,"date":"2018-06-23T01:04:39","date_gmt":"2018-06-23T05:04:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/brooklynintergroup.org\/brooklyn\/?page_id=64"},"modified":"2025-09-22T12:02:45","modified_gmt":"2025-09-22T16:02:45","slug":"phone-hotline","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/brooklynintergroup.org\/brooklyn\/phone-hotline\/","title":{"rendered":"Hotline: 718-851-3039"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\"><b>Hotline Volunteers: The Front Line!<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The primary purpose of the Brooklyn Intergroup Hotline is to provide information to help the sick and suffering alcoholic.\u00a0 We provide support and assistance by:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">Providing general information about AA and assisting individuals in getting to a meeting<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Providing general information about AA to families, friends, educational facilities, social services and medical professionals<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Providing hope and assurance to the alcoholic, their family, friends and the general public that there is help and there is support<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Providing contact information for related resources including, but not limited to, Al-Anon, Detoxes, Medical Institutions and other 12 step programs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Interested in volunteering? This is how it works:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">Calls are automatically forwarded to your cell phone, or the number you provide. Your anonymity is protected; Hotline callers will not see your number. At the end of the shift the calls are automatically forwarded to the next shift.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">If you miss a call, it will be forwarded to a back-up volunteer. (If you chose to return a missed call, we suggest that you dial *67 then the caller\u2019s number, this will block you number.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">There are four shifts per day (shifts cannot be split or shared):\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">8am until 12pm<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">12pm until 4pm<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">4pm until 8pm<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">8pm until 12am<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">The only requirement for Hotline volunteers is one year of continuous sobriety.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">If you wish to volunteer or if you have questions, please email: <a href=\"mailto:info@bigaa.org\">info@bigaa.org.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When anyone, anywhere reaches out for help,<br>I want the hand of AA always to be there.<br>And for that I am responsible.<\/h4>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hotline Volunteers: The Front Line!
