SPEAKER EXCHANGE FAQs

Q: What is a speaker exchange?
A: A speaker exchange helps groups find speakers for their meetings. If your group is looking for a speaker, you can find one at the speaker exchange. Group representatives attend the exchange and bring a list of their group’s open speaker commitments. At the event they exchange information with other group representatives who are also looking for speakers.

Q: Can I exchange speaker commitments on Zoom or other online platforms?
A: Yes, any speaker commitments can be exchanged at the Brooklyn Intergroup Speaker Exchange, in-person or online.

Q: What should I bring with me?
A: Meeting information cards (see below), a calendar (paper or on your phone), a pen, paper, and a friendly attitude.

Q: What is a meeting information card?
A: A meeting information card is an index card or piece of paper with all the information about your meeting.

Example Meeting Card (bring one card for every open commitment):

Q: What does the group representative do?
A: The group representative will collect meeting information cards with the open commitments on them. They will then go back to their group’s business meeting and find volunteers to actually speak at each meeting. Group representatives should only collect the meeting information cards that the members of their group can actually handle, taking into consideration the number of commitments they are accepting, the location of the meetings, the day and time, etc.
